Keeping St Katharine and Wapping Safe |
||
|
Good Afternoon, Officers from Cluster Two, covering Wapping, St Katharine, Shadwell and Whitechapel, continue to take positive and proactive steps to tackle crime and improve safety across the area. Recent activity has led to three arrests, including two linked to drug supply and weapons offences. Alongside this, officers have seized a significant quantity of Class B drugs and removed a dangerous weapon—a sword—from the streets. These actions are focused on reducing harm and protecting the community. The work being carried out is driven by the issues that residents have said matter most. This includes drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour, burglary, and any activity that affects how safe people feel in their neighbourhoods. To address these concerns, there has been an increase in visible policing, with officers carrying out regular patrols throughout the day and into the night. At the same time, plain-clothes officers have been deployed in key locations such as Wapping Woods, Shadwell Basin, canal paths, and around St Katharine Docks. This combination allows officers to both reassure residents and respond quickly to emerging issues. Targeted stop and search has also been used, involving both individuals and vehicles. These checks are intelligence-led and aim to disrupt drug activity and prevent crime before it escalates. All of this work is part of a coordinated Cluster Two approach, with officers working together across neighbourhoods to deliver consistent and effective policing. Officers remain committed to listening to local concerns, taking meaningful action, and ensuring St Katharine and Wapping continue to be safe and welcoming places to live, work and visit. | ||
